This policy covers our apps — CHNKS and Caster — and this website. Plain language, the full list, and a path to delete your account in two taps.
“Appden”, “we”, “us” means Appden Studio Inc., a corporation registered in Ontario, Canada. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
This policy applies to:
It does not apply to apps or sites operated by other companies, even when they link to ours. Their privacy is on them.
This website (appden.ca). Nothing automatic. If you email us we keep your email and the contents of your message so we can reply. No analytics, no cookies, no fingerprinting.
CHNKS. When you sign up we collect an email address and a display name. As you use the app we record your listening history (what you played, where you stopped) so playback can resume across devices, and we record your library (subscribed shows, saved episodes, bookmarks). If you subscribe, Apple or Google handles your payment — we receive a subscription status flag and a region, never your card.
Caster. Caster is a professional network for actors and casting directors. You build a profile that you control: name, age range, location, height, hair, eye color, union status, headshots, reel, credits, and the bio you choose to write. When you submit to a role, that submission and any messages exchanged are stored. Casting directors see what your profile shows.
All apps. We collect crash reports and basic diagnostic events (which screens, which buttons, no personal content) so we can fix bugs. Crash reports include device model, OS version, app version, and an installation ID that resets if you uninstall.
Only for the things you'd reasonably expect:
We do not sell personal information. We do not rent it. We do not use it to train AI models, our own or anyone else's.
A short list of well-known providers do specific jobs for us. Each only sees what they need.
us-east-1.We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or any other ad-network tracker — anywhere.
We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites. In iOS terms: our apps do not request App Tracking Transparency permission because we have nothing to track you with. The IDFA stays untouched.
On Android, we do not use the Advertising ID. On the web, no third-party cookies and no fingerprinting libraries.
The diagnostic events described in § 02 are first-party and exist only to keep the apps working. Apple’s “Privacy Nutrition Label” and Google Play’s “Data Safety” entries on our store listings match the contents of this section.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
Most of these are available directly inside the apps under Settings → Account → Data. For anything that isn’t self-serve, email privacy@appden.ca and we’ll respond within 30 days, usually within two business days.
Required by both Apple and Google. We support it for real:
Deletion removes your profile, library, submissions, and messages from our systems within 30 days. Some records are retained beyond that only where the law requires (anonymized analytics, tax records, anti-fraud logs); these contain no identifying information.
Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account, and vice versa. Manage subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland. The legal bases on which we process your data are: performance of a contract (running the apps you signed up for), legitimate interest (security, debugging), legal obligation (tax), and your consent where required. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
California (CCPA / CPRA). California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA. To exercise rights, use the contact above.
Quebec (Law 25). You may request access, rectification, withdrawal of consent, and de-indexing. Our privacy officer is Alex Reyes, reachable at privacy@appden.ca.
Brazil (LGPD), Australia (Privacy Act). Equivalent rights apply. Same contact.
International transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to Canada rely on the European Commission’s adequacy decision for Canada (PIPEDA-covered organizations). Transfers to the United States (Supabase, Firebase) rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.
Our apps are not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. CHNKS and Caster both require users to confirm they meet the minimum age during sign-up.
If you believe a child has provided us information, email privacy@appden.ca and we’ll delete it.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Production access requires hardware-key two-factor authentication. We carry out a quarterly access review. We will notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of a breach likely to result in harm.
If we change this policy materially, we’ll bump the version above, post a notice in the apps, and email anyone with an active account 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the update.
